cvramen.com, Now More Robot-Free!

A few weeks back, I mentioned implementing a method for protecting this website’s comment system from spam-bots using a text-based CAPTCHA which I was going to write in PHP. Well, in turns out that I did not have to write it because someone has already made it! It is a WordPress plugin that, instead of making users look at a hideously distorted line of text to prove they are human, it asks them a question.

After downloading and implementing it, I went back to the page to see if the creator had a tipjar or something like that (because his PHP application has made managing my website much easier!) but I did not find any.

Upcoming Change In Site Design 1/31/11

I am planning another change to the site’s design.
The current design, though simple, has quite a bit of intentionality in it. I spent some time polishing the details.

Recently I have felt that the current layout is inadequate, visually. In addition, the way the site was coded has created a few bottlenecks in process of publishing new content.

I have a new layout ready to go and will publish it on January 31st.

Here’s a preview:

New Site Design

I was holding off on posting until I resolved the visibility issues with Internet Explorer 6. I killed two birds with one stone by doing that and redesigning the website. This new redesign, I anticipate will be more conducive to me publishing new content and new kinds of content.

Don’t know when this site will be back at 100% (my portfolio has yet to be migrated.), but until then I’ll post an article I found for you to enjoy while you wait:

New Job and Website Layout

I haven’t done anything to the website in a while (I couldn’t tell you how long it’s been, but too long for me to bear). While I’ve been away, I’ve been doing some job searching and settling into my new job. I now have a full-time job working for a great company as a web designer.

Monday is Columbus day, and I’ve got a three-day weekend, so I decided to devote this weekend to working on the website’s new layout. There are some visibility issues with IE6 and early variants of IE8, and this is unacceptable. I recently have changed my opinion on how I want to implement the website’s layout, so I’m going to work on that over the weekend.

I have some new artworks I have been waiting to publish. I’ll get those up after I alter the website’s layout.

Portfolio Changed

Artworks in my portfolio are now in one of five categories: commercial art, other art, web art, documents, and photo manipulation . I also added two new pieces to “commercial art”:
